Meeting on AGEOPS Implementation with 14 PE’s KABUL: Today, Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, employees of the Electronic Procurement System Development (EPSD) of the National Procurement Directorate (NPD) conducted a meeting with procurement employees from 14 Procurement Entities (PE) and discussed the implementation of Afghanistan's electronic and open procurement system (AGEOPS) and provided training and awareness about the system at the NPD conference hall. At the beginning of the program; Shaikh Abdul Rahim Rahimi, Deputy of the National Procurement Directorate (NPD), welcomed the participants and encouraged the representatives of the entities to implement the electronic procurement system within their respective organizations. He emphasized that this system is a means to bring transparency to the procurement processes and also a parity with the world. During the program; employees from ministries and entities; including the Ministries of Agriculture, Irrigation & Livestock (MAIL), Communications and Information Technology(MoCIT), Public Health (MoPH), Education (MoE), Higher Education (MoHE), Rural Rehabilitation & Development (MoRR), Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), Office of the Prisons Administration (OPA), General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI), Directorate General of Monitoring and Enforcement of Decrees and Orders, Emirate Improved Seed and Agriculture Services Company, Afghanistan National Standard Authority (ANSA), Technical & Vocational Education & Training Authority (TVET-A) and General Directorate of Physical Education & Sports (GDPES) participated and a Comprehensive and detailed information about the system was shared with them during the session. The agenda included providing information to the officials of the procurement entities about the activities of the National Procurement Directorate and various portals of the electronic procurement system. Additionally; the entire procurement process; from initiation to the award of contracts; was explained to the participants in the system. During the event; NPD officials provided practical demonstrations to procurement entity employees; showing them a sample of all stages of a project in the Electronic Tendering System and procurement planning management system and addressing their questions. At the conclusion of the meeting; employees of the procurement entities expressed their appreciation to the NPD and promised to cooperate further in the implementation of the electronic procurement system in their organizations. It is worth mentioning that over the past two days; 14 other entities also participated in this implementation meeting at the NPD and they received practical knowledge and awareness about the system and this process is ongoing. The AGEOPS was launched on December 13th, 2023, at the Salam Khana Palace of ARG, and a memorandum from the H.E Prime Minister regarding the implementation of the electronic procurement system in the procurement entities was also approved.
